offset is off by a little, is this ok?
i found some new rims i really like, their 17x8.5 and the ET is 35, my rims are 16x7 and the ET is 45. when i mount the new rims they dont fully line up, it sags a little, i have too pick up the rim a little to put the bolts in, but it still fits. Is it ok to have a small offset off like this?

They will fit just fine. I run 17x7.5 ET35 wheels with 225/45 tires. Just make sure these new wheels have a 5x112mm bolt pattern.
Not sure what you mean by "when i mount the new rims they dont fully line up, it sags a little, i have too pick up the rim a little to put the bolts in, but it still fits."

you do know that the wheel doesnt actually rest on the bolts, it rests on the ball part of the lug bolt. i think thats whats happening here. if you dont screw the lugs in all the way they rest on the threads till its screwed in enough to rest of the ball/cone part of the lug bolt

Thanks for your help guys! Sorry about the vague and not really clear first post. What i was saying was that my old rims were 16x7 with an offset of 45, my new rims are 17x8.5 with an off set of 35, both bolt patters are 5x112. My new rims do not line up evenly with the wheel hub its a little too big. So when i screw the lug nuts in i have to slide the rim up just a little so the lugs align evenly. (i hope you understand what im trying to say lol?) My new question is it ok to drive like this? I figure it is since i learned that rim actually sits on the lug nuts. Also would this gap throw my wheel balance off? I took my rims to get balanced twice to the same guy, and my balance is still off (steering wheel shakes like crazy) but i think its the guy fault, i've had a lot of issues with his work before (thats what you get for free labor). Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks.

Fit is not the only issue with off-set. With your offset you're also putting more stress on the wheel bearings. And all B5'ers know what a problem the rear wheel bearings are...even with the factory offset.
