Offset question

Hi im about to buy work Vs xx wheels from someone. Now i wanna make sure i can clear it with my 2001 a4 b5 on vogtland coilovers. Its 19x8.5 all around with et 33 and et 40. What you guys think? And also tire size recommendation? Thanks.

Audisaurus 07-23-2011 07:57 AM

IIRC 40 is stock offset?

aledelic42 07-23-2011 10:39 AM

et40 is not stock offset and that doesn't really help his question

8.5 et40 up front would be close but I don't think it would be a problem. You'd probably want at least ~20mm spacers to make them look good, depending on how low you go. 215/35 would be a close to stock size. Or 245/30 but you'd have more rubbing issues with that

Aww.. I guess it will just be a headache. Its just one of those good deals i cant pass and trying to force myself to it lol. How i wish it was 18's too. Its being sold to me for only 1k. I guess ill just have to squash the deal. Grr. Thanks for the reply.

Why would that be a headache?

You can always rebarrel then and make the offset higher or lower.

I used to run 235/35 on 19x8 et35, the front fenders had to be rolled and the backs were near perfect (IMO). Depending on tire width you might need to space out the ET40 wheels for clearance, but the ET33 should be okay.

Sorry im a total newb when it comes to this offsets and all lol. Well you guys started making it sound better now... Well what the heck i'll go get it then! So to finalize my setup. I'll go with a 20mm spacer for the et40 on the front and tire size should be ????

aledelic42 07-23-2011 02:54 PM

if you're going to put those spacers on the front then you'll need to space the back out too or else it'll look weird. what height are you going to be riding at?

yellow_submarine 07-23-2011 06:56 PM

As low as i can go on my coilovers without rubbing. Im a little worried that 19's would make it look really tall lol. So how much spacer for the rear?
