Default Oil in the valve cover. What is the second gasket I need to replace?

Okay I switched to synthetic oil awhile ago and just recently noticed that I was losing oil. Didn't know where it was going but I thought I was burning just a little bit because it wasn't much that I lost. Went to change the plugs today and the plugs where pretty much covered in oil. The garage said the the valve cover gasket should be replaced and some other one. I think it is the cam seal but is that correct?

Since the valve covers are coming off what else should I replace?

From all the research I've been doing on the Audiworld forum today, it looks like besides the valve cover gaskets you'll also want to replace the cam tensioner chain gaskets and the half-moon shaped camshaft valley seals.

I'll be doing this exact replacement in the near future myself.

Yes I will be doing mine here very shortly. I definetly need to get this done with how much I drive and how much oil has been in the valve cover.

I think in your case you are referring to the spark plug gaskets. Replacing those should fix that issue.

Aren't those just part of the valve cover gasket kit, or are they something above the level of the VCG?

I think you can get them in two seperate gaskets, one is the inside portion around the spark plugs and the other gasket is the perimeter. However I think I have seen some that have them together. ECS has the spark plug gaskets at like 25 a piece. I figured I get the kit from that site and replace everything in there for just a few dollars more on both sides.

The VC gaskets are sold as a set. Is this for a 1.8t or 2.8?

damn i didn't think it was advertised that way. O well i paid a few bucks more from blauparts.com and got a kit with some extra seals. I will probably do it maybe this weekend or next. I'll let everyone know how it goes but it can't be that hard.
