Do the factory HID's fade over time and lose color? My lights seem to be getting dimmer and one side seems yellower than the other. Do the bulbs fade or do the ballasts? in other words, should I replace the ds2's, replace the ballasts, or both?

 

That's a good question. I would never had thought I had xenon from the brightness behind the wheel until I recently started looking to replace a smashed housing. I'd like to know too. What I do know is these came factory with 4300k's which is quite yellow white to begin with. I was just looking at getting at least 6000k's maybe even more towards the purple spectrum. If you are looking at ballasts you might as well go after market and get a whole new kit for what you'll pay for one from a junk yard.

 

its the bulb...if it was a defective ballast, your lights would probabably not turn on.

 

Yes, they do fade after a while.

If you're looking for stock bulbs, PM JETSPEED333. He had some stock OEM 4300 bulbs and I'm sure he's still got some left.

yes...it is the bulb that determines the light output(colour)

 

if you have a reason to replace them then might as well get the HID kit for like $66 bucks from vvme i got 6000k and couldnt be more happier with it

 

he has factory hids, he just need to replace them, and yes like everyone else said its the bulbs that determine the color and fade over time. on my aftermarket kit, i guess i accidentally touched a bulb and with in a month it faded to purple.

 

yeah i grabbed mine and it burned out in few days lol
Well since you just need to replace them then just but some 6000k or 8000k and nothing higher
