Old school Chevy motorhead with a 99 Audi A4
Hi everyone. I just picked up a 99 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro. I did a little research about the brand and model, with what I found on this site I was able to identify most of the obvious problem. i.e headlight switch, airbag light, and breather hose. Plus I got lucky and found a local recycle yard that specializes in audi and all german vehicles. So I was able to pick up some parts from there as well. I'm not really looking to add any performance mods yet just looking to get it to a good "Fun" daily driver. Is there any problems that I should be on the look out for on this model Audi?

Welcome to the forums! I misread the title and thought someone was dropping and chevy motor in an audi and I about reach for my rifle to go find you...
I say start HERE. That has a ton of info. The must read of that is the A4 Newbie Guide! Also post some pics of your new ride for everyone to see!

First - figure out if the timing belt/water pump has been replaced. If not, do it soon!
Second - figure out a way to stuff a LSx/T56 combo in the car and keep the AWD functional. Then enjoy the car and live happily ever after
And the 2.8 gets no love. There are very few performance mods available for the 2.8.

Welcome! I just did a laundry list of stuff to my new-to-me Audi in my Uncle's old school Chevy hot rod shop. He helped out since he is waiting for several items for his '76 Vette labor of love. We both got through the process without cursing the Germans too much, and find the A4 to be a right nice little vehicle!
Buy your parts online, pick up some of the oddball metric tools (spent $25 at Habour Freight for metric hex sockets and torx sockets) and any gearhead should have no problem keeping the car affordable, especially with the DIY support on this and other forums.

Get a VAG COM cable and software from Ross-tech...helps with all the codes and resetting them. You can use the lite version, get the cable on ebay for anywhere from $10+ but buy american. Then download the free lite software and register it for full use-IT helps out tremendously, once registered, you can run an auto scan to find all the codes and problems, list here and we all will help you.
Also, if you are a motorhead....get a bentley service manual for that car, I have mine for sale with serial numbers, has detailed schematics and is a factory service manual.....excellent for DIYers....
Welcome, and have fun....I still race V8s with no problems and no mods.....
