phone line usb conversion
i wanted to do the phone line usb conversion. can someone tell me what exactly do i need for this. do i just get a female usb socket and connect the wires? it would be nice if there was a DIY on this, i looked but cant find one :(

because there is no power in the phone line it won't work, I checked mine with a volt-a-meter.

AFAIK there should be a powered line in the phone jack. I've seen a writeup for the USB conversion somewhere, I did a quick search on google and didn't find it though.
When I find a factory armrest for my car I plan on doing this conversion. It'll be really nice to be able to charge my headset and whatever else from it. |

i just took a look at my armrest to see how it all looks like, and the phone socket is gone and there is some wires in there. when i bought the car the dealer told me that he put in a brand new armrest, looks like he didnt bother to hook up the phone line after installing it. less work i guess? i will probably end up doing this in about a month when college is done :) also need to come up with the parts which should be cheap

My car didn't come from the factory with an armrest, does anyone know if the phone jack harness is tucked in the console or in the car?
