Possibly purchasing an A4
Hello,
I am thinking about purchasing a B5 A4 as a daily driver. I found what looks to be like a clean, low mileage 1.8t: 1997 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro Low kilometers - 107500+kms only 4 wheel drive Manual Transmission Heated seat warmers Extras Added: APR chip H & R coilovers Magnum Supersprint Exhaust Strut Bar OEM Euro HID headlights Boost Gauge Turbo Timer K & N Filter PPI Amplifier and Subwoofer Additional 17" alloy rims, not pictured included. (Will upload photo soon) However, it does not have a radio/stereo deck. ~No accidents and original Kms, AirCare tested in October ~ ~Please, serious buyers only.~ I have a few questions though. Are these cars good for daily drive use? I drive about 25,000 kms (15k miles) a year for work, so I need something dependable. What specific things should I look for when I go see it? What questions should I ask the owner? Or should I just stay clear from these cars altogether? Appreciate the help, thanks. Onto the pics http://images.craigslist.org/00F0F_a...qH_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00B0B_k...vu_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00k0k_c...YS_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00v0v_4...J2_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00y0y_5...Za_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00H0H_1...uW_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00707_U...3V_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00606_f...jy_600x450.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/00w0w_7...sj_600x450.jpg |
[QUOTE=CannMann21;1456212]Hello
Hi CannMann, How much? Why is he selling? Have you done a test drive and pulled codes? (Beware of modified cars whatever the make.) |
+1 on modified cars. Low kilometres, but has all necessary maintenance work been completed and documented?
Take a look at the condition of the tyres (tires) to see how the car was driven. Heavy wear on the outsides indicate hard cornering while inner wear can indicate misalignment, especially with suspension modifications since the camber often ends up being outside of specification. Inspect the constant-velocity (CV) joints to see if the boots are torn or if grease is being thrown around from a puncture in the boot(s). When you drive the car, pay particular attention to the uptake of the clutch for any slippage or 'judder' when accelerating. Replacing the clutch assembly on an A4 Quattro is often expensive if you cannot do it yourself. |

3500 maximum, if even that.

I'd normally be against modded cars, but this one at least has quality stuff put into it. The fact that there's only a few, relatively expensive mods could mean that they were installed at a shop because the owner didn't know too much and was willing to spend the extra cash. The price is definitely too high, but I see BC plates so the price isn't anything atrocious since cars tend to be more expensive over there.
With that mileage, look for signs of it being rolled back or sitting for long periods of time, it's one of the two since there's no way a regularly driven car can be that low. |
Well I think that one sold because he isn't returning my emails. However, I found another but it needs a right front cv boot replaced. Anyone have a ballpark figure on how much that would cost?
