Very new to this forum, i just got the car about a month ago.
I'm loving the car (180bhp Quattro Sport) but if i have the throttle down fully and then let off, to brake, there is a noticable retarting kick from the engine. Is this normal or could there be an issue with the diverting valve??
It happens when i am going around town and i acelerate and then let off the throttle , then "DUNK" immediatly after i let off the throttle and the car kind of 'engine brakes' briefly for a moment, then its normal again.
I've never had a turbo before, so am i doing something really stupid??
Thanks,
sShane.
P.S. - My car is a 2000 A4 180bhp Quattro Sport and it originally came from England (now in Ireland), if that helps. Its got about 80,000 mls on it.
P.P.S. - I had a look at the diverting valve and it looks like the stock (plastic) valve.

a sticking diverter valve could cause some surging, but its most likely just worn out or broken engine or transmission mounts that are giving some excess movement in the engine when coming off of power. the lower the gear that you are in, the larger the engine breaking effect when coming off throttle.
