Question about Emissions with down pipe
You don't NEED a downpipe to run a test pipe, it will just bolt up where your cat used to be. I definitely wouldn't take your car to an exhaust shop to do a test pipe install. First of all, I don't think they can legally do it because it replaces your cat with a piece of open pipe which is illegal.
The easiest way to get the cat/downpipe out is by unbolting the cat from the turbine housing on the turbo, then climb under the car and disconnect the clamp that joins the downpipe to the rest of the exhaust. there's also a bolt holding the downpipe to a bracket. Disconnect the two O2 sensors and you can pull the whole shebang out from the top. Much easier to work with that way.

First thing, just use the spark plug anti-foulers, they're much cheaper, and an be found at any big box auto parts store.
Second, I have a 2.5" Neuspeed cat-back exhaust, and while the flanges bolted up right, finding the right gasket between the TP and the DP (turbo side was fine) wasn't so easy. I skeptically used some copper spray gasket in a can between the TP and DP. I was surprised, but it worked (for over a year and a half now).
Third, the Test Pipe just replaces the cat, and bolts straight up to the turbo. The Down Pipe goes down from there and connects to the rest of the exhaust.
Lastly, look into getting the rest of the exhaust done in order to really get any gains from installing the TP. If you have a 3 inch TP going into a stock DP, you're still going to be restricted (but not quite as bad).
Hope this helps.

Yeah. I bought it back shortly after I bought the car because the flex pipe got destroyed when I hit a massive pot hole avoid a woman driver on her cell phone. It was the cheapest cat back I could find, and it's 2.5" from the cat back, DP included.
I love it. It's nice and throaty, without being too loud and obnoxious. That, combined with the TP, and APR tune, makes for a deceptively quick car... But it's still not fast enough.
