question regarding a 99 a4 1.8t quattro purchase
#12
It seems you already made your mind up before asking on here. So please don't waste our time by posting a thread then fighting everything we say. If you car has sludge it's not as easy as just pulling the pan, there will already be sludge in all the little passages and has probably already done damage by oil starvation and heat. That is why all 1.8t should always have synthetic in them. If the previous guy used conventional imagine what else he cheapens out on? These are audis, not Hondas. You can't go cheap or you will be buried in debt from repairs

Not wasting your time or anyone's as forums are a choice to come to and you chose to come here and post. No twisting of arms.
But the way you make it sound is as if I honestly should fix it and sell it off to avoid tons of problems (if there are any with it).
I understand every car has problems. That's the main reason for me posting to find out.
But unless these cars were only bought by uppitty ups they were most likely ran with dyno oil and got auto store filters. So some of the "sludging" problem ought to be evident on alot out there.
Correct me if im wrong in my assumption.

You didn't waste my time posting you've wasted my time by posting then have people what to do you you pretty much blow them off.
Anyways, yes if you pull the oil pan you will be able to see a sludge problem, but pulling the oil pan is no easy task by any means. Also saying that unless it is bought by "uppidities" they used cheap oil...that is normally false. These are audis, they were not cheap when they were first bought. Most people take care of them to pretext their investment
