ran over a set of chains on the freeway...
 

yea... cruisin on 1-90 headin to bellevue and i have halogen lights that SUCK, and so i barely saw them and before i knew it i heard a loud "THUMP!" and after that me and my 3 buddies in the car just sat there in silence... and they all stared at me cause im pretty ocd about my car and they just knew i was in shock.



so i guess all im wonderin is... any ideas how bad it could get? or what the odds are on it being very bad?

i stopped and looked underneath and i wasnt sure but i saw steam comming off the muffler but i didnt know if it was just snow or not. but i didnt really see anything broken or hanging down from what i could tell.

If i had to guess I would say the steam was just slush that got kicked up when you ran the chains over. I'm thinkin if you were gonna break somethin serious, it would have been very apparent to you at the time. Not to say something might not be broken, I would still take a close look at everything when you get a chance. But I don't think your wheels are gonna fall off or anything.

Thats scary though man i know what you mean about the halogens, I can't see much at night with mine either :(

yeah, thats true. ive been drivin it around quite a bit still, lol, and it seems fine.

there are soooooo many chains on the road it sucks driving 405 i have ran over a few myself thanks to halogens haha nothing happened to mine to

whats 405 lookin like in this storm?? ive only gone 1-90 as far as factoria just short of it.

I'm glad nothing happened to your car! My mom hit trailer hitch rack on the freeway a couple hours after I graduated high school and it cut the oil filter open and the car ended up catching fire and burning up on the side of 279N just outside of Pittsburgh. It was like you, she just didn't see it until the last second and that little Impreza has no ground clearance whatsoever.

I really dont think it did any damage! but i'd go under and check everything just to make sure...

what kind of chains are you guys talking about. the worst ive ever hit is a rug someone threw on the road.
