you have to gap spark plugs, properly too,0.32 or 0.28 for stock i think

They are gapped at .028. Sorry I did not put that in my first post. I did put it on my desktop but forget to put it on the laptop when making the thread.

The CEL came on last night. I couldnt even leave the driveway before it came on.

are you chipped? .028 for chipped and .032 for stock

russcuss36 Aug 20, 2010 04:33 AM

As far as I know I am not chipped. I just got the car a couple months ago and then the misfiring started happening. I will re-gap to .032 and check the compression since I gotta take the plugs out anyways. If there is anyway to figure out if my car is chipped w/ Vag-Com or any other way. Is it bad to run Iridium IX in it. Those cost me 30bucks.

You'd know if you were chipped just based on the fact that you car would be fast ;) Seriously though, you can see through vag if you check for boost requested I believe. Another way to know is if you have a boost gauge. Stock reads around 7-9psi while chips increase boost anywhere from 15psi and up. I'm sure that those plugs would be just fine. I'm assuming you are talking about these plus: http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...x.asp?mode=nml

I dont have a boost gauge but wanted to put one in soon. Check this I plugged the maf back in and drove around a few times and the CEL turned off this morning. With the plugs still being .028. Is my ECU going bad??
