Rear brake caliper

Hi all,

I am attempting to replace the rear brake pads. When I try to re-set the rear caliper piston, the piston rotates but does not retract. Is it broken or am I missing an important step?

Thanks

gotta push and rotate at the same time. Usually need a tool that catches the two grooves in the piston and turns it while pushing.

I was rotating it and applying a bit of pressure at the same time. How much pressure is required? I don't really want to buy the tool only to find out that the caliper is broken, as I'm unlikely to ever need the tool again at this point.

Thanks

try loaner tool from local parts store.
I turned mine with needle nose pliers. try turning back counterclockwise for a half turn or so, then go back to clockwise.

Did you have an issue with yours not retracting at first but then engaging after you turned it backwards for half a turn?

Thanks

Yes, but you can try anything because you are gonna need to replace the caliper if you can't get it to retract. And that isn't very hard either, just read up on bleeding brakes.

Autozone, Advanced Auto Ect loan tools and most have the kit for it. Mine wasn't hard to do once I got the tool
