rough idle?
so.. i was in a rush to see my dad in the hospital because icu's visiting hours are really fucked up, and i was driving the car kinda hard out of my school's parking lot. when i came to a stop light, it started idling really rough, like it was about to stall. it drove fine the 30 someodd miles to the hospital, except when fully stopped. then when i left the hospital, it wouldn't start unless i hit the gas. and now when i start it, it takes a few seconds for it to start. anyone have any suggestions on where to look?
or also the Coolant temp sensor. Those things will cause all sorts of problems. I had one go out on my car and it would not start easly AT ALL. I had to hit the gas peddle a few times to get it to start and then it would idle bad and yeah.. it was all bad.
And I hope your dad gets better!

its got 75k miles on it. i mean, before i drove it out of the school parking lot it was fine, and what i mean by kinda hard was i just sped out of there... i'm sure i've driven like that before, but thats the only thing i can think of that could trigger something bad to happen. oh yeah, and no cel. wouldn't there be one if a sensor or fuel injector went bad?
yes, if a sensor on our car goes bad, it doesn't hesitate to let us know, one of audi's perks. unplug your MAF and see how it runs. also, spray the throttle body with carb/intake cleaner and then start it. scan for codes anyways, sometimes a stored code could do something tricky like that. o also do a throttle body alignment, just put they key in the ignition, turn it to on but don't start the car and just let it sit for like 5 min
when i unplugged the maf the car ran worse... reminded me of my ex's vr6 when the maf went, the gas is very touchy and it idles like ****. i sprayed some carb cleaner into the throttle body, but that didn't change anything either. since i unplugged/replugged in the maf, the cel is on, thats the only difference really. i left the key in for a while, and still no change. i need an oil change anyways, so i might just bring it to the shop. i was just hoping there was something i could look for specifically that would lead me in the right direciton. i'd scan it but i don't have a scanner anymore... i could go to autozone though.
anyone have any more ideas? the car's been at the shop for 2 days and they can't track it down either. they fixed a small vacuum leak that i noticed, but that didn't change anything. everything seems fine on the car... they're gonna look at it again on monday.
well, it turned out to be the intake manifold gasket...? yeah, that sounds right. they cleaned the injectors, but that didn't fix anything. but yeah, it took them a week to track it down. but now the car runs great. everything that can be cleaned out has been, so it should be good for a while lol
