rpm dips and jumps, below 1 and up to 2
Hey all got a nice problem with my audi 2001 a4 quattro 2.8:
The car will start up and run fine for a few minutes, then the rpms will up and down drasticly and cut out. I have it at the shop now for diagnostics. Im $500 into the process now and they have yet to be able to find whats wrong with it. They are saying it could be the throttle body. But they said the part is 770 bucks plus 3 hours labor charge.
They cant get a vag-com reading so I cant get any codes to really check. Im going to try to get a used throttle body and put it on myself cause i dont want to be $1000 in debt due to just diagnostics.
Since they cant get any vag-com readings, could the computer be toast? I did have the alternator replaced. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

I think you should take your audi somewhere else, this shop charged you 500.00 and haven't found the issue and they priced the throttle body at 770.00! their ripping you off, period!
Google some "certified audi mechanics" in your local area and be done with these fools.
