Default RPM fluctuates wildly 200 -> 1000 while idle

Hi
A4 Manual 2.8 1996
I did change coils sparks and some cabling however this problem is simply killing me I already took it to two car shops and both of them charged me for stuff and told me it is fixed while it is not.

This happens randomly but normally it does not happen in the morning. While the car is idle in a traffic jam the RPM starts to fluctuate wildly between 200 and 1000. Another thing that happens sometimes and might or might not be related is that sometimes when the rpm is 1500+ and I press the gear clutch it stays at 1500 for roughly 5 seconds before dropping back to 1000 and then it stays there a couple of seconds before dropping to 800..

Any hints please ?

I am a newbie I really dont know what that means I am trying to figure out what is wrong so I can tell some pros to fix it. But as said before I had very bad experience with fixing this at multiple places.

When that happened to our truck, it was a bad throttle spring. We still haven't changed it since it doesn't get driven much since I got my own car. I don't think Audi's have throttle springs but I could be wrong. A good person to contact off the top of my head is Auditech79, since he's an Audi tech.

Take it to audi and see if there is a recall out for your throttle body. On the old 2.8L motors there is a recall to replace the throttle body and re-route coolant hoses since the old school ones don't have a coolant hose going to the TB.

Hmm...I do live in Lebanon and the car is an import I bought it roughly two years ago...I doubt they would even look at my car at Audi if I took it to them..thing run differently here...sadly.
Thanks
