RTV on these gaskets?
 

im doing the timing job currently, and am hitting the cam tensioner seals while im at it. now, i know where to apply the RTV on the vc gaskets, but when i do the tensioner seals, do i need any RTV? ive heard of people putting it on the seals, and on the half-moons, and the cam cups/caps. what do you more audi-savy guys suggest?

bump. has anyone whos done the cam tensioner seals, put rtv on the new seals and half-moons?

I put about an inch and a half of RTV on the lower side of the gasket, spanning maybe a quarter of an inch either way of the half-moon seal.

it says in my manual to apply sealant to the cam chain tensioner gasket

Use a thin layer. I personally like to let it cure overnight before firing up the motor.
