Default S4 wheels on A4

I already know they will fit, i have a set, but just recently when i put them back on i realized how much my cars acceleration and braking abilty were affected, i know i have a 12v but it was never this bad. just wondering if anyone else has put these wheels on and noticed a diference in porformance. my 12v is fairly well balanced with the hotckis sway bars and S4 suspension and lightweight wheels and though i like the wider look and feel of the S4 wheels i dont want them to affect my braking (yeah theyre pretty much stock with the exception of ebc rotors and stainless lines). so let me know what you guys think otherwise ill just put them up for sale. also ont eh stock rims can we go upto 215/55/16 or is 205/55/16 the widest we can go.

what wheels did you have on it before? if you went from something like a 16" rim to a 18" rim you might feel the extra weight on acceleration but not much else should be affected. if they are around the same diameter and relative weight then you shouldnt notice anything really.

btw i had 235/35/19's on my 12v with almost no rubbing and no spacers so you can go wider then 215.

I've got 225/55s on my stock wheels. It's VERY close in the rears, but you'll be okay with 215/55s.

The stock S4 rims are very heavy, plus if they are bigger there is an increased moment arm so It will take more torque to start and stop them.

seems to me that breaking would improve due to more rubber on the ground... width wise... are they vibrating or something? maybe they just need to be balanced

its as bishop explained it, with bigger diameter wheels on your car more torque is required to start and stop the wheel from spinning. your brakes where "only designed" to stop a car that is on your stock wheel size of 16inches. when you change that wheel size larger the brake has to work over time to over come the increased centripetal force that the larger wheel creates.

If by chance you have a physics one book lying around it should adequately explain the physics behind the problem in there some where, i think.

yeah thats what i was thinking, the wheels were OEM S4's that i took off when my S4 got wrecked a few years back (long story, im cursed to not have anything fast). also sine your really running 225 on the stock 16inch wheels. i thought you could only go as wide as 205 from the factory. also i guess im just gonna sell teh S4 wheels theyre heavy and my cars already slow as it is. ive been running the 7 spoke sport rims like bishops for the last year and theyre a hell of alot lighter than the S4 wheels. but seriously sine your running 225 on stock wheels, were not talking about your S4 are we.

Mine are 225/50/16 Yokohama YK 520's and they aren't even close to rubbing.

225/55/16...they are very close to rubbing in the rear...close enough that I would prefer not to have back seat passengers or heavy loads, ya know? BUT...I have had back seat passengers and very heavy loads and I have no uneven tread wear or tire damage, so maybe it's fine. I have pics I can upload later.

Also, RAUDI sold today
