Hello fellow Audi owners, I currently have a 2000 a4 5 speed, and the engine has a terrible knock (has 200k and was bound to go soon). I pulled the engine and pulled the oil pan and I had tons of metal in the oil. So I thought screw it I'll find a cheap boneyard engine, went to look and didn't find anything except A 146k engine for 1800. 1800 sounds ridiculous for such and old engine so I was getting ready to scrap the car, but then my buddy reminded me I have a 2001 Audi A6 with a 2.7t parts car.( I bought to restore the body. good engine, body is shot and rusted through, Windows don't work, interior issues etc.) so what I'm wondering is what would I need to do special to switch the engine into the a4. Both are DBW, sub frames switch fine. I have 2 Ecus for the 2.7 (chipped and stock) and the a6 is 6speed manual. The harnesses look identical in the E-box, and the a4 has holes for the mounts. and since I have a parts car, everything that I need should switch over right? What issues has anyone else ran into?

 

The 2.7T engine is used on B5 RS4, as far as I know.

You may find stock parts for mounting the engine.
