shifter problem or tranny problem?

My car is usually hard to put into first and third gear. When I am completely stopped it goes into first easy, if I am rolling at all it is hard. When I go to shift into third it also seems hard and sometimes I get feedback from the shifter, like I miss shifted, but just a little. My clutch is bad and slips in 3-5 if I give it enough pedal to boost at all. Any advice guys? Thanks!

It's possible the pressure plate is starting to go bad , especially if you are getting slipage.

Even with my clutch pedal to the floor it does this, my clutch disengages way at the top, I only have to push 1/2" to fully disengage the clutch/pressure plate.

redline MT-90 fluid does wonders for shifting but will not help your needed clutch job

could either be 1. you need to adjust your clutch, like it isnt fully engaging, or 2. your synchros are bad and you need a new clutch. Im going for option two because no one with a b5 has good synchros any more. Although first gear is supposed to be synchronized, it really is only needed if you are completely stopped. i cant get mine into first even going 2mph. and im sure youre synchros are getting bad. as stated changing fluid may help, but it isnt a fix. as for your clutch slipping, you need a new one.
