Shifter surrounding plastic
2 Attachment(s)
Was already peeling and then some goo gone fell on it (long story). So it looked like this: Attachment 28932 it melted the shit. I sanded it with medium coarse sand paper. Now it looks like this : Attachment 28933 still needs fine sanding and then paint or I can just buy another piece. Part number : 8D0 864 261H . Suggestions? Thoughts?

Keep at it. Just don't use regular paint - get paint made for vinyl (at pepboys, autozone, etc)
I did mine about 6 years ago and it still looks like this... http://www.brrman.com/audi/2000_Avant/Avant Dash.jpg http://www.brrman.com/audi/2000_Avan...r_Surround.jpg |
Looks good. So black vinyl paint? Did you sand it after paint? How many coats?

^^ those are the blue orb knobs (theres an LED around the shere). To shift into drive you pull up. Pretty neat.
Shaesta just go on and paint it or wrap fabric. Which ever. Its cheaper and you did it yourself. |

. UHH wrong. The knob is a MOMO three piece - the ring you see is a gray leather insert, not some led light (eww). I bought it off a a guy years ago. I'm pretty sure they don't make that model anymore. You do pull up on the knob to shift because I installed the SPP tip mod. I did sand the shift plate after painting - between the 2 coats. And you'll notice I also sanded my actual shift plate to give it a brushed look. |
My bad! Either way it does look nice though

If you have any auto paint shops around you look for stuff called SEM colors. It's made specifically for interior surfaces. Can even be used on seats, leather, etc.

Alright I will try to paint it soon. I'll finish smoothing it out first. What grit do you recommend after paint?
