Default Sick of my headlights

I want LED lights like off the 08 A4. But I am willing to settle with some HIDs. I want 5k but how many watts should the ballast/bulbs be?

And obviously i cant use the plastic headlight housing now itll melt lol. Where would a cheap source for glass be?

I'm running the stock plastic housings with retrofitted projectors and 55W HIDs. I'm not sure any of the B5's were made with glass outer lenses. Typically HID setups don't use glass lenses because it will blur the cutoff.

Don't put LED's like the newer Audis in. It just looks silly on the B5.

^ What he said.

They don't make "glass housings" for the B5. Nothing from factory and nothing aftermarket.

I'd suggest going for either OEM Valeo E-Codes or even the ones made by Depo/Helix. They look the cleanest.

I'm going to thread jack a little bit here, but its still on topic. I have an 01 A4 with factory projectors and HID's. I want 4300 or 4500 55w HID's. Can I just buy the D2S bulbs off of ddmtuning.com? I've been trying to figure this out for a few days.

If you have factory Xenon, they should already be 4300K.

The wattage isn't on the bulbs but ballast. Getting higher power bulbs without replacing the ballast wouldn't make any difference.

If you want more power, you'll need to change the ballast. I'm not sure who makes the OEM ballast, but if it is Bosch, you may want to check this out.

Our ballasts are made by Valeo but that DIY might work as I'm sure most ballasts have the same basic structure.

i'm running 8000k (bought from orangemika on ebay) on stock housing its fine and all my ricer friends are jealous of how clear my lights are. if your tired of the look of the oem lights go with dual halo led lights, i had the halos on my first a4 but i smashed threw a fence the first week (quattro doesnt mean you can take icey turns at 50mph) i absolutely loved them but i'd say either one you go with get the black housing. i'f you decide to just go with hids ebay ones work fine, but i haven't turned my foglights on since i installed the hids (ordered another set just for foglights and high beams...
