Default Slight problem... can someone help?

Ok, so.. I got into an accident recently and rear ended a car going 5mph. Lite damage to my hood and cracked my headlight glass. Called insurance, took the car to the shop, and got it fixed.

Repair shop then started telling me about a non-accident related damage, and that there was a nail in my fuel line. I don't know how it got there, and not sure how I can prove if the last place i took my car to (goodyear) did this to me or not. My dad went to pick up the car and didn't even ask what it would cost to get it fixed. SO right now I am just driving my mom's car while I wait for my next paycheck so I can solve my problem.

So my question is, how much would this cost to repair? Do I just have to replace the lines?

I have a 2000 a4 1.8T with about 80k miles on it.

Thanks

Where exactly is this on the car? What section of the fuel line? Is it a hard line or just a rubber section? If your more specific, I'm sure we can all help quite a bit more. =)

Well that makes it kinda hard to know what we're dealing with, so until you can get more specifics, I'm not able to tell you what needs to be done. Sorry bud. Pretty weird presentation of a question though to have a nail mysteriously show up piercing your fuel line. Good luck and if you get any more info, post it up and I'm sure someone will chime in. Pics are always worth 1000 words.

yea i found it suspicious as well, but I did notice a loss of power when I took my car from the good year (before the accident) but didnt think it was a big deal as I was overdue for a oil change... but i should of suspected something. I have a flashing CEL, I dont want to bring itn in a shop without some expectation of what it will cost me... thanks anyway

The flashing CEL is more than likely a multiple cylinder misfire code. At the top of the b5 forum in the stickies theres a vag com locator thread that lists peoples locations and if they have a vag com scanner...might try that to start with to see what codes your getting. Aside from that, most auto parts stores will let you use their generic code scanners for free in the parking lot. At least it will point you in the right direction. If you get any codes or get it scanned with the vag com, post up the results.

I had the coils replaced a little over a year ago for misfires, and they don't look burnt out, I've read places that u can get a flashing cel for a vac leak as well.. is there any merit to that?

I've had some gaping vacuum leaks on my ride and never got a flashing CEL...I'm talking huge chunks of the one way check valves just missing! HUGE leaks...
