So what are my exhaust options?
I have a 1997 2.8l 12v... I know..... I know....
I want a nice clean sound.... But they don't make any cat back systems under 1200... So I guess that limits my options down to a nice muffler... What are my options? |
Cost wise you might be better off having a "custom" system built locally using a Magnaflow muffler. Plenty of folks here have done that and are quite happy with the results. Would also allow you to choose the size of plumbing, resonator or not, etc. Do a bit of searching on Magnaflow, and I am sure you will come across some pretty nice examples to "copy".

Have you looked at borla catback systems?
|
Yeah the borla catback exhaust is $800 on awe-tuning.com
|
Yeah, but the Borla catback system says "1998-2001" for some reason....

As nice as remus and all of those sound just replace your resonator and muffler with a magna or borla. Much cheaper. Or just get rid of your resonator and get a new muffler. If you stock piping is in good condition just leave it. No need to go bigger. We're 12v's we dont look for power.

Magnaflow 14816 muffler w/out the res. Sounds awesome!!!
Here is a clip from my A4 1.8T when I had it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCKfQgACBJA Josh |
Straight 2.5" w/euro tip here. Cost me $120. Resonator and muffler add to much weight. Maybe I'll see you around Petaluma! Listen to it here http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...deoID=34942112

Go with custom 2.5" true duals, it would sound badass. Make sure you go with hi-flo cats though. Cats rob so much power :(
|
just go with custom piping with a magnaflow muffler. i love mine to death. i will probably get some bigger piping in the next month or two
