AudiForums.com - The solution to the clutch vacuum vent valve incorrect reading code

So, about 2 months ago, my car threw CEL code p1539. I took it to advance auto, used their obdII scanner, and it said p1539 clutch vacuum vent valve incorrect reading. so, i cleared it, and went on my way. I researched it. found all this stuff saying that if that code happens, supposedly you can start your car without the clutch pushed in- which in my case didn't work, either. so, now that i found the solution, i figured i would share how i fixed it, because i had a really hard time coming up with a detailed fix for it.

1st, i disassembled the lower portion of the dash. remove the 4 bolts, (10mm i think?) that hold it up. once that's undone, remove the obdII reader clip and the under-dash light.

2nd, slide the seat the whole way back, so you have some room. i also raised the steering wheel.

3rd, crawl under the dash, look up around, and you'll see two pressure switch things. a white one and a black one. as you push the clutch pedal, it relieves a little nub on the switch, but as you let the clutch out, it will contact it and push it in. I had to unclip the harness that plugs into that switch, then twist the switch so it tightens that little nub to where it was in farther. i didn't make it tight-tight, but i snugged it up so it looked like the one touching -i think the brake pedal? or the gas. i was upsidedown. haha.- then, i plugged the harness back in, put my dash back together, and turned my car on. the CEL was gone. and i didn't even have to re-clear the code at advance! so, all in all, i'd say it was a success.
