Default stearing wheel vibration

Looking for some help -
I have a 98.5 1.8tq-tip and when the car is in gear (either D,1,2,3,4,5) and at a stop, I get vibration in the stearing wheel. More than just being able to feel it, but able to see it actually. This happens every time that I come to a stop, whether it is a light or a sign...you get the point. I can put it into nuetral though, and the shake disapears. Also, no shake while in Park. So the stearing wheel only shakes under load. No CEL.

Any ideas?

Could be your torque converter.

bad motor/cracked out snub/bad tranny mounts?

sounds like the motor is bouncing all over the place

does the idle move w the vibrations?...cuz if that's the case then you are missfiring

if you think it might be a motor mount issue, you can check them by simply looking to see if they are bleeding, red jelly will be leaking from them if they are bad

if you have an aftermarket snubmount on an automatic, you will always and forever have some vibrations at idle

if you think it may be missfiring, change the plugs...use a set of NGK BKR7E with a gap of .28

alright, hopefully something up there helps...gl!

Well, the idle isn't moving (I amassuming you mean the RPM's here)and I doubt it is the spark plugs since I change them every other oil change (I use the ones you recomended). As far as I know...all the mounts are the original mounts, so maybe that is it.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why would the torque converter be suspect?

car is ok in a strait line? and problem only happens on breaking? does the break peddle pulse/vibrate when you slow down?

Car is fine in a straight line...... The break peddle does pulse/vibrate when I hit the brakes doing about 55-60, but only in that range. The stearing wheel vibration problem doesn't technically happen when I am braking though....it happens when I am already stopped, with the car in gear. As soon as I let my foot off the brake and the car starts to roll, the vibration stops.
