Default Strange part (Help me Identify it)

So the other day i was putting in my boost gauge and when i took off my knee cover (The part where the Diagnostic plug is located for our cars) There was a black box with a sim card in it and it had power because it had a blue light on and red light on but i had taken out the battery connector's so the car had no power what so ever and the box was stuck in there with some adhesive double side tape on it and the box is located behind the top right part of the fuse box any of you guy's have any idea's what the hell that is i didn't take a picture because i had a bit of trouble putting in the gauge and it was getting dark.

Thank's and i have a 2001 1.8T auto quattro.

there shouldn't be anything down there with those colored lights. shine a flash light on it and take a pic. maybe we can tell what it is by checking out what it's hooked up to

I thought they were supposed to hide those? My first thought was a flash loader for changing tunes, but that car's mostly stock right?

Well a flash loader is either going to be an obd port hook-up or if someone was brave enough to splice in a flash loader to the obd pre-wiring. Can you trace the wires anywhere?

it a remote controled bomb I placed in your car. If you remove any wires to put any bright lights towards it, it will explode....
