stuck in 3rd
I'm at a stoplight on a empty road. Light turns green, and I (uncharacteristicly) push the pedal down. Everything is great to about 40 miles - but at 40 mph the car wouldnt accelerate or shift. Took my foot off the gas to keep from pinning the tach and the car shifted.
Maybe it's just the way that an automatic is (and I'm not usually a 0-60 kind of driver). A little while later, I make an opportunity to test it. Exactly the same performance - get stuck with high rpm's and no acceleration at 40. Take my foot off to keep from pinning the tach, and the car shifts. No biggie - jiggle the gas and the car shifts and accelerates. Should the tranny handle this better, or am I just expecting too much from an automatic? thanks |
Have you checked the simple things like ATF fluid level?
I'm not sure if Audi automatic transmissions have a diagnostic mode like Z's do, but it they do you can check it for error codes. |
When was the last time you did a tranny flush? I was having a problem like that a while ago and I just did a flush and changed the filter...works great now.
