Suede beltline trim is now complete (finished pics inside)

Well, I got held up by weather and a few other things but the beltline suede project is done. Next up is the A/B/C pillar retrim, the center armrest, and the headliner as well. Overall, I'm very happy with the outcome. It richens the interior and darkens it down at the same time. I'm especially happy with the contrast of the suede on the dash with the piano black bezel around the stereo and CC controls. Here's the final pics:

Looks like a great job done. That would really be hot in the S4 with the dual seats.

ImTheDevil 03-08-2009 08:26 PM

Yeah it'd be great I think. I think that having used black suede though, I'd have to find seats to match. The gray alcantara S4 seats would be awesome if I used gray suede but my local stores don't have light gray. If I can find some, that's what I will use for the pillars and headliner, but if not I'll use black and get S4 visors and Oh Shit handles to match.

Hell maybe I'll have to make that trip when you're doing it and give you a hand just so I can see it.

Sure, sounds good:) I will probably wait a couple weeks and plan a full day since it'll be my car and also my buddy's Passat (he's been doing similar work in his car too). We will probably plan for detailing that day too so you're welcome to come down, hang out, do some mods if you want (dual rear fogs and things like that) and wash/wax/buff your car. That goes for any other guys in the area too - come on down and hang out, have a beer, wrench on your car, detail it, whatever you want - I have a shelf full of detailing supplies, orbital wax buffer and high-speed clearcoat buffer (my buddy will have his buffer here too so we can do two cars at a time), you name it.

Maybe we can get enough Audi guys that day and do a cruise and photo shoot too.

You should make a DIY headliner/pillars write up with pics when you do them!

Looks good! I see that, like me, need to replace both side mirrors. My driver's side mirror is at least 50% brown, looks like crap.

Yeah my mirror glass looks like hell but new glass is on the list. As for a DIY, that's fine with me. I can tell you though the pillar trims more or less pull right off. Auditech79 posted a headliner removal at one time - I'll edit this post with a link to it when I get off my iphone and on my computer (I have it bookmarked). The reskinning is trial and error but mainly you want to cut the material with a decent amount of extra so you can pull/stretch more easily, and then trim it when the glue sets. If you have a pocketed piece or a piece with an indentation, press material in and glue that first, working outward. Otherwise, start by gluing the largest/flattest part first and work away from it, facet by facet, until the part is covered. Then trim the excess and let cure and you're done:)

EDIT - here's the link to removing the headliner:

Exactly...or at least once the pillars and headliner are done:) BTW, are you in class all day tomorrow or working? Is there a time during the day that I can meet up with you momentarily?
