Is there any much (sound)difference between a K&N box filter and a K&N cone filter?

Hi,
My car is a stock 1.8T. I know adding a K&N wouldnt make any power gain, but I want the car sounds better because I enjoy listen it while driving. I am thinking about replacing the stock filter with a K&N (box or cone). So, is the K&N cone filter sounds much greater than a K&N drop in replacement box filter? or the box filter would be (sound) good enough compare to the stock filter?

Thanks for answering!!

I don't think that there is a significant sounds difference. Just go with whatever is cheaper or more convenient for you.

The box drop in filter will be a minimal difference. The cone however will make an audible difference. The box one would probably make a minimal power gain where the cone one may lose due to heat soak. A cone w/ a heat shield would be ideal.

I remember one of the member said that the K&N cone filter make an amazing noice and with the release of throttle it lets off a sound like a bov. I just wonder will the K&N box filter will easily do the same or similar job for my stock 1.8T?

its not the filter that muffles the sound of the turbo, its the airbox. if you want to sacrifice some horsepower for some sound for some reason, put a cone filter on. the stock airbox and OEM paper filter flow plenty of air for a lightly modified car.
