Thoughts on these codes?

Hey everyone,

Check engine light came on in my '01 2.8 Quattro. Decided to get a scanner to figure out what was really going on after a mechanic ripped me off.
Scanned it and here's what came up:

P0011
"A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

P0118
Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input

P0150
P0150 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor I)

P0300
Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

P0301
Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

P0302
Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected

P0303
Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

P0340
P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Any idea whats going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

umm i think its time for a compression test and possibly a leak down test... and go from there to see how bad ur motor is.. the other stuff.. well replace the o2 sensor.. but as far as engine temp circuit thing and timing thing... i have no clue lol

Hmm..

Sounds like your spark plugs or coilpacks are going bad.

How's it running?

killi101 09-04-2009 01:34 AM

Its running surprisingly well actually. Misfires are unnoticeable most of the time, I can only really tell when the car's been idling for a while (like stopped at a long stoplight) its starts to feel like its chugging a bit. I've noticed that I'm getting worse gas mileage so I'm probably running a bit rich. I read on one of the other threads about switching connections on the coils to try and figure out if the coils are bad or not. Should I try that?

Also, the shiesty mechanic I took it to did tell me that he replaced the plugs and wires on the cylinders that were misfiring. I'm not sure if he actually did the job or not (hence my aggravation with him) Not sure if that helps rule anything out, but just so you've got the whole story.

Thanks for the help BTW, I REALLY appreciate it!

Yeah, you can try switching it and see if it still flashes the code for that particular one.

You should PM auditech79. He could help you further. :)

With these, I'd think something in the timing belt area.. as in jumped.

if your timing is not right than your car will misfire no matter what
