Default Throaty Exhaust for 1.8T

Hey there,
Just bought a 98 A4 1.8T Quattro and I started looking for exhaust. Now what I don't want is something that is so loud and obnoxious someone will mistake me for just another tuner going by in a civic. Does anyone have an exhaust kit on one that can speak from experience, or maybe know someone who does have one?
Thanks
B

Oh and by the way, I've been doing some looking around...everyone here seems to know their stuff.

I have a Bolra cat back kit. I like it, has a nice throaty sound, not too loud unless your under acceleration. Also has very little drone at high speeds.

Borla sounds good. If you go larger than 2.25, be sure to have a good resonator to avoid rasp.

Additionally, adding a Labree HFC really changes the tone. Labree HFC with the Borla 2.25" cat-back sounds pretty awesome to me.

if your going for noise only then borla is nice. the thing i don't like about borla is it's 2.25" where your stock exhaust is 2.17" , not much more flow.

if you want performance at all i would go with techtonics turbo-back, milltek, even magna-flow sounds pretty good. and they have more flow with 2.5" (milltek is 2.75").

The Milltek, as well as many other larger systems, still use a 2.5" down pipe. Anything past the down pipe is not going to affect performance noticeably (unless it's crush bent or incredibly restictive). Unless you have a HFC or test pipe, even a 2.5" d.p. is overkill, but it does allow room for future applications and mods.
