timing belt option
hey I am getting ready to do the timing belt i wanted to order the kit from blauparts. but i heard timing belt and water pump are better to buy from the dealer becasue they are better quality. has anyone bought from blauparts or any other website? the prices at the dealer are so much more expensive and note sure if it's a big difference in quality.
any help would be appreciated

IMHO parts from blauparts, ECS tuning, or any of the other online parts suppliers are equal or better quality to what you will get from the dealer. A lot of them are EXACTLY the same.
so...
so...
With respect to cam belts, did one recently on a 2.6L v6. I dont remember the exact brand i used (may have been Gates?), but i know there was a choice of 2 brands at the time, the brand of belt i used had a product failure warranty of belt plus engine part damage replacement IF the new belt broke due to being faulty BUT for warranty to be valid the tensioner and i think another bearing had to be new as well. The other brand, slightly cheaper, only had a warranty for the belt only.
Although new cam belt failures might not have a known high fail rate, better to opt for a brand with good warranty options on an interference motor imho.
as a side issue, on forums ive seen where on the v6 a tool is required to clamp the cam sprockets, and losening of the cam sprockets, i found did not need to do either. Used a Pentel white marker pen and marked 2 lines on the edge of each cam sprocket to belt and 2 lines on the edge of the crank, losened off tensioner - remove belt, lay over new belt, copy across the EXACT marks for each cam sprocket and crank, fit new belt to the exact marks, take up slack with tensioner and tension belt, perfect.
