Default Transmission fluid capacity?

I'm replacing with some redline mt90. How many quarts does a 2001 a4 1.8tqm take?

manual = around 3 liters
automatic = 5.5 liters

note: manual and automatic transmission fluids are not the same and should be audi approved. I have Meyle in mine (automatic).

It is pretty much impossible to tell exactly how much fluid you will need. If you are doing a complete transmission overhaul you can go by the total fluid capacity but if you are just changing the transmission fluid, there is really no way to get all the old fluid drained out. That is why the change procedure calls for filling the fluid with the car level and the transmission at temperature. The procedure does not tell you how much fluid to use.

7 quarts on hand should be enough.. Mine took a little over 6.
