Under Hood Temp. Mods
Hey guys,
Im home for my winter college break, and im just looking for a few cheap/no cost mods that i could do for my A4 while i have this time on my hands. Im waiting on my HID kit right now, but i was thinking about doing some of those mods that people have used to lower their overall underhood/intake temps. I think i have read about them on either here or the zine and i was wondering if any one could find a link for me. I dont think the search is going to find such a small specific subject. Today i unblocked the second air scoop on the radiator support. Took a small saw and some high grit sandpaper to it. It looks really clean. Just wondering if anyone had a link for the thread im trying to find. Or any more info. Thanks! Hope every one had a great holiday! -Anthony |
im not sure the specific link your looking for but you can always remove the weather stripping from around the engine compartment so there is airflow under the hood. other then that, you can do the airbox mod if you still have the stock airbox, or make a heatshield if you have a cone filter. on the 2.8 theres not much reason to decrease underhood temps, theres no glowing hot turbo heating everything up. you can exhaust wrap your headers if your really bored.

Hmm, those headers are gonna be a bitch to get to lol. Well, i have a cone filter and already made a nice head shroud. Would taking away the weather stripping well......let in the weather, like dust, snow and..rain? cause that would be bad lol. Thanks for info tho.

theres nothing u can do to change anything enough to notice air temp. drops. i would start thinking of a new project. :)

other than the header wrap.. i dont think there is much, unless u get like a pound of dry ice and keep it under your hood

Na guys, not what i was thinkin about. Maby it was on another site. There were results done on a 2.8 with a few mods. Tests showed a drop in temps. Ill keep looking.
