Default V-checker

99 a4 1.8tq 5sp

So I got my vag v- checker in the mail today and couldn't wait to turn off my airbag, abs, and break light! I was able to get the airbag light out ( sweeeeet) but I can't get it to cumunicate with the brake electronics. Is there something that I have to do to get it to work?

Also what is the dealership code? I went in to look and changed it buy mistake. Is this bad?

Brake/ABS lights: if the ABS module is inaccessible it is usually bad. It can be repaired for $50-150 and made to work like new. This is usually the issue when both the brake and ABS lights are on.

Dealership code isn't important. I think it's just something there to identify who last touched that module (potentially for warranty purposes or something I guess). I've never messed with this but I doubt you did any harm.

EDIT:
I'm actually surprised you could access your airbag module. In my experience (and I know others have found this also) if the ABS module isn't accessible then often the airbag module also isn't. In those cases, fixing the ABS module restores access to the airbag module.

im assuming that you (metal man) have a v checker, and by going into brake electronics is the correct place for the abs/brake light?

is there anything else that i could check that would cause the abs light to come on?
