Vag-com readout misfires, abs, hvac
First time I hooked it up. Been getting misfires in cyl 1 and 3. Changed plugs, still misfires. I havent been able to find the cylinder order, so I'm not sure which coils to swap around. Hopefully both these cylinders run off the same coil.
ABS-rough road/engine torque signal-electrical malfunction wheel speed sensor? How do I know which one? Hvac-no heat comes out vents. Both coolant lines warm. Havent flushed core yet. A/C is disconnected. Given that I am getting air, I'm guessing its the temp sensor. Am I correct? Where is this? Also the airbags are out, how do I turn the light off? RE: Vag-com readout misfires, abs, hvac
What year A4 do you have? Im only asking that for the miss-fires.
ABS code isn't something to worry about, erase it and see if it comes back. If it does replace the IAT sensor. For the air bags you have to install resistors in place of the airbags with close to the same resistance value. |
RE: Vag-com readout misfires, abs, hvac
1997. Whats IAT? Im sure its not intake air temp...ha..
How would I figure out the resistance value? Im sure testing the old blown one wouldnt be right. Maybe I should just pick up one off ebay. What do you think about the heat? I read the fresh air temp sensor is behind the glovebox and some filter? If that was bad would it give me no heat? Should I flush the core first? Thanks for the help man. |

RE: Vag-com readout misfires, abs, hvac
The missfire is gonna be caused by the ICM (ignition control module) which sits on top of your airbox.
Yes i meant the IAT sensor, it directly reports to the ABS, ENGINE, and Transmission, it usually doesn't go bad on A4 models though. As for the heating problem, make sure your engine is running at operating temp, then take out the battery and used compressed air to flush out the core. If that still doesn't work then there is a problem with the temp flap door which your fault code suggest. The fresh air temp sensor reports to the intrument cluster to help identify exterior temps. |
RE: Vag-com readout misfires, abs, hvac
Thanks, just ordered an icm, flushed my core. Lot of crap came out. Heat seems to work, but it was almost 50 degrees today, however switching from cool temps to hot sure made a difference.
Not doubting you here just interested, IAT. Is it the intake air temp? What does that have to do with ABS? My rotors are warped, could that have something to do with the rough road/engine torque code? Thanks for the help! |
