Oh, huh. I only drove around for maybe 50 miles with the seafoam in. But i didnt put the other half of the can in before i changed it either. Maybe ill try that before my next oil change. It also seemed to get a little worse after i did the timing belt and the oil change. I did gain about 1 psi of boost and 2 or 3 psi of vaccum though after doing the oil change with Royal purple. It almost seems like it got a little louder though.

If it was the cam chain tensioner, wouldn't the ticking not go away after a few minutes?

Yeah ive also got another problem but not sure what it is. Might be the cam tensioner starting to go. When i rev up the engine past about 4500 or 5k rpms, and let off the gas it makes a grinding noise just down to about 4 or 4500 k rpms. Unsure of what it is. I was thinking it could be a crack in the turbo or my cam chain tensioner. I might change my plugs also, they look terrible and i also need a new VC gasket.

What's a good indicator of a cam chain tensioner going out?

It's so freakin' hard to diagnose what my problem is because it only happens when the car is moving....

Indicator of the cam chain tensioner going out is a rattle/tick from under the valve cover where the chain is usually apparent at idle and a change in pitch when getting on the gas but disappears after it revs up. I guess if it's bad enough it could make noise under any load/rpm. 0w40 is probably a good idea for any higher mileage 1.8.
