They better change the cam adjuster seal under the tensioner too for that price! Ouch. Looks like you're gonna have to pay the piper.

www.2bennett.com they are in Davis, their labor rate is around $80 an hour. Give them a call for a price quote to change the tensioner, valve cover gasket and cam adjuster seal.

Its still gonna be around $900 i think. I would do it but i really don't feel like it....

What would it take for you to do it? A cookie? Two cookies?

Why's it so expensive anyways? It looks like it should take a decent shop about an hour.

i know, a cookie and a cup of milk, yey.....lol jk

it seems that its not that hard, however, just for curiosity, my car didnt have this part for about two days,(it burned cuz a mistake of a mechanic) and i noticed that the noise of the tensioner came during that period, could that be the reason that the tensioner failed?

It does only take about a shop an hour to do, but the flat rate labor on the tensioner is 5.5 hours because the book tells you to R&R the cams and timing belt which you don't need to do. Thats why mechaincs always upsell cam adjuster seals

I'll do the job lumend13 but i won't do it for free. PM me.
