Don't remember what they are, but i do know it was never used on american models.

Because the car was made in germany. Cars that don't have 6 cd changers still have the harness installed, they always load them up with the entire wiring harness, even if it doesn't use a specific componet.

Interesting, Ive got the same connector in my trunk. Is it something that's on all B5 A4's?

EDIT:...my car is identical to yours stock for stock except for the color. Ive got a 99.5 1.8TQT.

Its on all B5's, including S4's.

Yup mine has it as well in my S4... I actually tapped into one of the wires to use as a amp remote turn on wire. HAHA
