cheapest chinese cone filter. Works just fine, and no damage on MAF so far.

I have the Blitz SS filter and I only used it because I had it laying around from an sr20det project. After reading this test I came up with a simple solution. I purchased a 10 micron filter form ebay. It fits over my filter like a sock and filters all the fine particles before my Blitz.

It actually does a better job as my Blitz only filters down to 200/150 microns The main filter is 200 while the crown is 150. In comparison a human hair is about 100 microns. AEM's new dry filter claims to filter down to 1 micron. I am considering the AEM along with the Apexi because they are both dry filters as is my Blitz so no need to worry about oil in the MAF.

Cone filters have their place and on a k03 and k04 they are not needed. For what I am running and bigger there are gains to be made and they are beneficial.

Here is a picture of my setup:

The filter has a 6" opening and and I used a billet velocity stack to smooth the air flow before the MAF in an attempt to get better readings. In theory is sounds good but I have no way to measure the benefits. These pictures were take before the sock but just imagine one of these nets used to get fish out of an aquarium but bigger. The sock was actually designed to place over a container and filter bio-diesel but it works very well at this as well.

If anyone is interested, just let me know and I will post some more current pictures including the sock.
