What if TBA doesn't work?

What if TBA doesn't work?
Hey guys, here I am bugging again...
My car has been sitting out for a while without battery power and now my idling is erratic and every time I press the gas the car almost shuts down but it picks itself up again at the last second...
Now from what I've read it's the ECU and the Throttle Body system that have "forgotten" how to run the engine... I've read about the "throttle body adaptation" of leaving the car in accessories mode for 3-5 minutes until it clicks... I did that and heard nothing, started the car up and the erratic idling was still there.
Now, I don't understand why I can't get it fixed because the car worked perfectly fine before.. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Pardon the ignorance but... What's a Vag-Com and how do I get ahold of one?

even in drive by cable cars, there is a potentiometer in the TB that needs to be calibrated. there isnt a motor that controls the angle of the TB plate though, but it still needs to be aligned.
for the 99.5 you should just have to turn the key to on, then listen for a buzzing (30 seconds at most) to stop, then you should be good to go. every once in a while this doesnt work and you have to do it thru vagcom for whatever reason. if vagcom doesnt work, then you need to replace the TB because that potentiometer died.

sounds like your MAF. my intake hose fell off between the MAF and TB. it did the same thing. unplug your MAF and it should do the same thing. just clean it with MAF cleaner and hope for the best. also clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner

duderseb, if you're near Westchester County, NY I can throw your car onto my vagcom and do the TBA. There is no guarantees however, your TBA may also need to be cleaned with some TB cleaner. But yes, seriously, it's less than $20 for the cable on ebay and there is a version of vagcom you can download for free. The seller alpha-bid even includes instructions. Google search is your friend, I'll even give you the keywords, search for "vagcom 409 obd2 cable".
