Where to get an alarm module?
Posted a week ago with my alarm woe's. After 8 hours the dealer finally figured out its the module (brain). Thankfully they can only charge for 2 hours diagnostic, plus another 2 to put it in. However, I'm not paying the $500 they want for the module, so I need it used and I need it fast. Can sum1 point me in the right direction to getting one of these cheaper?
I tried going down that route, theres no way around the factory setup is what I'm told. I found the module on ebay for $50 from a place in Minnesota. I bypassed ebay and found their website and called to order so it owuld be quicker, plus I next dayed it for an extra 15 so I can get it by thursday at the latest. If all goes well, I cut the cost of this job in half by getting that part on my own. Too bad I still gotta pay 360 in labor + tax. Here's where I got that module in case anybody else has the same misfortune.

I'm having a similar problem on my 99 A4: The first indication was that I could not turn off my alarm with the key or the remote. By disconnecting the electrical connector from the alarm module behind the right wall of the trunk, I could disable the alarm but the windows or sunroom became disabled. I've ordered a new (used) module that the dealer diagnosed as the problem. My question is, if anyone knows: After I switch out the module, will it have to be programmed by the dealer??? Anyone???
