Default Windshield washer fluid pump leak

My windshield washer fluid water pump seems to be leaking from a small hole in the water pump. It's not that the pump was punctured but the pump was designed and manufactured that way. Does anyone know the reason why this is doing so and how to fix it. I attached a picture for your reference.

I had to go get a new pump at the Audi dealer... I think it was like 75 bucks or so... took me an hour to change out...

I'm having the same problem, but I think mine is around the inlet. Is there a seal where the pump goes in and do I get one from autozone

Big hose in the picture makes it look like the headlight washer pump, vice the windshield.

Mine froze and cracked slightly, which made it initially look like it was just the seal, but it was the pump itself. Replacement from ECS was cheaper shipped than the dealer's parts counter by about $20 if I recall.

so this is the headlight washer pump?

AudiTurbo, my also initially looked like it was leaking from the hole but later realized that it was dripping from the pump.

We've proven around here there are some different washer setups, so I can't tell you for sure. But on my car, the headlight washer pump is halfway up the reservoir, and has a large braided outlet hose, similar to what I see in your photo. The windshield washer pump is on the very bottom of the reservoir with standard small diameter hose on the outlet.

Another fun fact is that, generally speaking, there's no guide to which pump is in your car based on the year/engine combination. There are about half a dozen different designs on ECS, and they're not necessarily interchangeable. Best bet would be to yank that one out, compare it to the pictures and descriptions on ECS and buy whichever one looks the most like yours.
