Supercharger unit on a 1.8 B5, is it a good idea?
Hello,
I'm always wondering about supercharging my B5, I like the torq response better than turbos. But when it comes to Audis, we're all turbo.
Does anybody supercharged their B5? Am I insane?
I wondering about a eaton unit, maybe a M62.

Yeah you can supercharge a 2.8 v6 but the parasitic loss of a supercharger probably isn't very good for the little 1.8T. Plus, it'd be expensive because everything is set up of a turbo; but on the other hand, it's your car, do whatever the hell pleases you.

Seems pointless. A supercharger on the 2.8 30v is low boost due to high-compression, but is about 250 hp, since the V6 has decent power to begin with.
You want to supercharge a non-turbo 1.8, which likely has higher compression than a 1.8t engine, which means you can only boost 5-7 psi. You might get a bit over stock 1.8t hp with a supercharger at a crappy 5-7 psi. A 1.8t can get 250hp with a chip. For the money and time you'd waste you could sell and buy a 1.8t, buy a chip and have more power.
