02 1.8t wont start HELP!!
Short version of this story is that i was driving down the highway last Friday and my car went into limp mode the oil light came on and it stalled and wont start. took it to the shop and they said that the intake came looks like it got very hot but it did not seize, the belt did not break and there are no missing teeth and that the timing still looks like it is in sync (granted they only checked the chain part for timing). They took a scope into the cylinders and could not see where any of the valves might have hit either but when they did a wet compression test cylinder 1 was at 30 psi and the other ones were at 0 psi. So are they missing something or what?
Dead means the cylinders are just that, not making any power. I doubt very much the rings failed all of a sudden. I suspect the valves are being held open, possibly due to the camshaft phaser going bad. Take your car to a shop that understands these over complicated engines, or if you don't mind the cost, take the car toan Audi dealer.
ill have to ask them about the cam phaser because they dont know whats causing it to do this and they are wanting to pull the engine out to look at the block and the lower end of the engine. i just don't feel like what this is has anything to do with the block or the lower end. i mean the way i see it is if the crankshaft still turns and the pistons are still connected to it that there should still be compression so its got to be a cylinder head issue.
