hey hey whats wrong with alpine? As for sub recommendations what you plan on listening to first and how you plan on listening to it. You wanna be heard or just have a nice addition to a overall decent stock system. Damn i saw that pic of the hidden equalizer. nice install any pics on how u managed to fit it in there?

Myself I'm interested in improving the sound quality inside the car...don't care if anyone can hear outside.

I have a couple unopened component speaker sets...do the front and rear doors happen to take 6 1/2" mids? How do you get at them?

For the sub, I'd like a bit more slam, but I'm not looking to give up trunk space or add amplification...just improve on whats there. Maybe replace the factory driver and enclose it as it seems to be a free air setup. Is it a standard size?

I'm going to do a write-up for the whole install once I get the trunk settled. Basically I had to remove the whole front half of the ashtray assembly and mounted the bracket to the underside of the door. There's just enough room in there for it to fit without rubbing or touching anything. The control panel mount is back-braced against the hinges, so everything's rock-solid when you push the buttons (one of my concerns was that it feel cheap due to flexing materials).

Back to your regularly scheduled thread!

I listen to lotta rock, metal, types of techno, etc...

No need to draw attention to the car with some 80" sub haha, just want it to overall be Louder, sound better, and have more bass.

Sure you all have the same problem i do, Burnt CDs just sound like shitttttt most of the time, even ones i get that are 320kbps downloads... Stuff like iron maiden there just isnt enough bass with this system to even make such old thinbass songs sound remotely decent.

Also random,
but past few weeks out of no where my CDs are just skipping like theres no tomorrow, ones that have been in there the whole time! They dont even have scratches on them.

I'm about to just toss the entire system and upgrade entirely =/

Compressed music is crap to begin with. All a good system is going to do is make that all the more apparent. When music is converted to a lossy format like mp3, then converted back to CD, there's no getting around the simple fact that you're stripping data out of the original signal and leaving less to be heard.

ecstuning.com has the stock B6 stereo on sale for like $39 if your current one is starting to skip.
