'05 1.8t quattro avant ultrasport - fix it or ditch it?
Thanks in advance for your advice. The car has 90K hard miles on it.
The timing belt has been replaced at around 80K
There is some pretty bad body damage where my wife keeps driving the beautiful front grill into parking curbs. *sigh* We have had it fixed before but she just keeps knocking it.
It needs all upper and lower control arms, 3 motor mounts and two tranny mounts, plus the steering rack has a small leak which we all know will get worse and that will need replacing as well.
The interior is rough, drivers seat cracking. On top of all this it sounds like a tank despite just having a 600$ tuneup at the dealer. The dealer of course says trade it, and my independent german shop says the same thing.
The repairs for c-arms and mounts come to about 2600 + more when the steering rack goes. We have just had rear brakes (500), tune up (700) and the rear right cv boot replaced.
Should I get rid of it or fix it? this is a rare car right? Fixed up it looks very sharp. It is black on black with the ultrasport and s-line options. Still, diminishing returns and all. We bought it for around 32K with 12K miles on it CPO from the local dealer, and it was paid for a year after we bought it so we have certainly gotten our moneys worth out of it. I might get 7K for it on trade? Or does someone here want it? This is a florida car.
I don't have pics of my own to post but here's a link to some, it's the same car. It has a very aggressive stance.
Thanks!

Since you don't have pot holes down there, what are you doing? Off roading it thru the swamps? If two reliable shops who have inspected the car say dump it, I would follow their advice. Of course, heaven help the poor slob who buys this on auction.
