3.0 Q Fuel Filter/Pump Question....
The weekend my car started making loud hummimg noises by the right quarter panel. The noise isnt constantso at this point I am assuming its the Filter. I have read many forums on this however they have all been related to the 1.8t and i want to know if changing the filter in a 1.8t is the same procedure as a 3.0? Also where can I get new filter cheaper than the dealer? Im close to New Brunswick, NJ and would much rather just pick up a filter from a shop otherwise i'll just get one online.
Here is the link to changing a filter on a B6 1.8t
Any help is greatly appreciated.

RE: 3.0 Q Fuel Filter/Pump Question....
Its the same process for the 3.0L as the 1.8T. You should also call the dealer and give them your VIN number and see if the JL recall has been done to your vehicle which requires changing the fuel pump to an updated model. The humming noise your hearing is the pump trying to push fuel through a clogged fuel filter. Changing the filter will stop the noise yes, but it may have damaged the pump.

RE: 3.0 Q Fuel Filter/Pump Question....
Thanks man. I called the dealer and gave them my VIN and they claim they hav no record of any recalls on my car (which I doubt since everyone i know with a B6 has either fuel or electrical problem or even both) however I went to the dealer today and paid $60 for the filter and will put it one tonight. Hopefully the pump is fine.
