800-1000hp 1.8t Reasonable build quote?
Well I have finally got a good job in the oil fields so its time to build my a4 b6. Currently stage 1 with a k04 which is nice but would really like to achieve 800-1000hp. Contacted Integrated engineering with a quote at $14520 US dollars. Question is .. Is it a reasonable price for all of this work?
Please don't comment "well why do you want 1000hp". I just want it. Have had a couple of high hp cars but never a audi. New to audi so I want to see how this goes. Thanks for all the feedback! that seems extremly high. I would think for under 10 grand u could get near 800horsepower.

I can't tell you if that is reasonable, but you better put some money aside to upgrade or replace the drive train. Putting that much power through a stock tranny, differentials, axles will lead to some interesting failures. Just putting 35" tires on my 78 CJ7 quickly smoked the front pumpkin and clutch.

Assuming you're not just trolling, I can tell you that over on AZ, you'd get laughed at and/or scorned for suggesting that you could do a 400+ HP build "right" for less than about 9-10 grand, so only another $5K for doubling the power seems within the ballpark range of "sane," at least as far as such things can be called sane. Expect to spend more on an S4 tranny to *maybe* handle that power when your stock tranny disintegrates, which will happen shortly after you start using all that power. Also expect to break stuff in the engine quite regularly; pushing that much power out of a tiny little 2 liter engine (I saw the word "stroker" in your list) is going to require a LOT of boost, which puts a LOT of stress on the engine. Even 4-500 HP out of these cars requires serious work, and a big enough turbo that it will be very laggy. (Think less power than you have now until 5K+ rpm, and then it all comes on in a big rush.)
A much better starting point would be to transplant a 2.7T engine into the car and do a build on that. The larger displacement makes all the difference; boost will come on earlier, and you'll need less of it to achieve any given power figure. 500 HP is supposedly *easy* out of a 2.7T (you can get over 300 with just software on the stock turbos), so 800+ should be a lot easier than with a 1.8T, though it'll still of course require upgraded turbos and no small number of other parts. All that said, it's your money; if you want to spend it making crazy power in a car that wasn't designed to handle said power, that's your business. The same, of course, applies to the money you'll spend fixing it when it breaks, which will happen frequently. |
